Truth,Change, and Prosperity: Are All Possible?

So many promises, so much mudslinging. Do the candidates realize that with all the mess they are creating, it is difficult to see what they truly represent? When I finally took the time to face the proliferated stats on the candidates, I realized that who I thought I would support in this election was not offering the kind of change I would most value. While looking over the webpages found on http://www.votesmart.com/, it dawned on me that are more than two options in this election. It was similar to flipping through posters, almost settling for an all-right print, then finding at the back of the stack your favorite yet. So while looking at the biographies and opinions of the Independent candidates today, I discovered the nearest-to-perfect candidate I could choose.

Enter Chuck Baldwin, a writer, journalist, talk show host, and pastor from Pensacola, Florida. His campaign slogan "Let The Truth Be Heard!" clued me in as to why I had never heard of him. Though most United States citizens are crying for change, no such anthem is heard concerning the truth. How could it be, with the glamourization of lying in what we Americans digest as entertainment? How could it be, with so many women denying the truth that they are murdering an unborn human when they have an abortion? Chuck Baldwin promises to implement changes if he enters the presidential office, but they are not likely what most Americans are clamoring for. Most likely, they will involve more than one "Inconvenient Truth" that this nation needs to face.

So enough about our country's need for a voice of truth. What does Baldwin actually have to say? To start, his plan for the economy is a purging of all the international trade and government regulation of the present. As U.S. citizens earn more money due to this plan, he would allow them to keep more of the money they earned by replacing the federal income tax with tariffs. Less of their income would be given to government hand-out programs such as welfare. According to Baldwin's vision, the government would play no part in the issuance of free healthcare, the regulation of business, or even in education. This would mean the elimination of programs that inhibit rather than help education, such as No Child Left Behind, and the freedom of parents to use vouchers to send their children to the public or private school of their choice. Would such services be offered to illegal aliens? Not under Baldwin's agenda. Efforts to decrease illegal immigration would include stronger penalties for employing an illegal alien and enforcement of public agencies so as to discourage serving illegal aliens. His view concerning illegal immigration is similar to his conviction regarding foreign affairs--the United States should be independent from the problems of other nations. This includes any kind of military aid. Will this mean less homeland security propagation? Yes. In fact, much of the nation's current budget would be cut out entirely. Such funding would not be necessary in a land where the freedom to defend oneself, protect one's rights under the Constitution, and conduct business without government interference would be a reality. Chuck Baldwin is the only candidate who has dared to suggest changes that could ultimatley bring this freedom. He is also the only candidate who has promoted the need for truth in this nation. I, for one, will not be ashamed to vote for one who has been "pushed to back of the pile," who can offer with a single vision the truth, change, and prosperity hoped for in America.

Interesting and different perspective, Cara. Too bad that he wasn't recognized more. I actually really liked Ron Paul earlier in the elections. Oh well. I like Obama too.

And, it is true; mudslinging does lead to a convoluted view of the candidates.
